This method of bookbinding is where a flexible adhesive attaches a paper cover to the spine of the assembled signatures. Paperback books are one example of perfect binding.
Here at Purely Digital we offer you two methods –both using Morgana equipment, especially designed with Digital Print technology in mind.
Depending on your requirements, both systems offer high-quality, high-strength binding.
The hot-melt glue method is suitable for books with a starting spine width of 3mm and with paper up to a maximum weight of 170gsm. It lends itself best to uncoated and matt papers with 3mm of ink free paper running into the spine.
The PUR glue method bonds with strength several times that of hot-melt adhesive. As well as being much stronger, it works on a wider range of stock. Again, the minimum spine width is 3mm, however the paper can be much thicker and with full ink coverage into the spine.
UV coated stock will also bond right into the spine.
